Happy Friday Friends! Mike and I just came back from a little getaway – we went to the tip of an island in the Pacific Northwest where there was nothing but ocean and sand and trees. I Am... Miso Hummus with Crispy Onion Furikake

Yesterday was Vacuum V(W)endsdays, the day that I try to vacuum the house. I don't always end up vacuuming on Wednesdays but I find it helps to have a dedicated day because otherwise who knows how long it might be between vacuum sessions. Mike and I actually had a whole conversation about the whole frequency of vacuuming thing. Now I pretty much vacuum once a week, at a minimum, but I used to just vacuum whenever it felt "dirty."

I made this little loaf last week, on a whim. I was feeling a loaf craving and wanted something moist and just a little bit dense. Basically, I wanted the opposite of light and airy. I wanted a loaf with substance and pistachios. I was going to riff off of my almond lemon loaf but I didn't know if adding pistachios would do bad things to the texture so I did a quick little google search and found this gem of a recipe.

Yesterday Mike and I went on a green onion hunt. For some reason Sundays are not the day to buy green onions. I guess Mondays are the days that stores restock? Anyway, at first, we were at this little Japanese market and I was going to buy some Tokyo negi, which is kind of like a giant green onion. But, I was too snobby about it because I wanted tiny, cute green onions, so I was all like, nah, let's get our green onions somewhere else.

Whew – I can't believe Christmas is over. I hope yours was a good one! We had a ton of food, as per usual, and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I had a legit food coma. How the heck did Christmas sneak up so quickly!? I've been so busying being jet-lagging, baking, and merry making that I didn't even notice that Christmas is in two days! What are your plans?
